OTR has CBS date Friday by Larry Nager Cincinnati Enquirer, 12/10/98 There are no annual Over the Rhine Christmas concerts this year,so fans of the Cincinnati band will have to make do with an appearance by the group on _CBS This Morning_. Today, OTR is scheduled to tape a segment in New York for the morning news program. The band was contacted by co-anchor Mark McEwen after he heard their CD, _Good Dog Bad Dog_, OTR singer Karin Bergquist says. Perhaps in deference to the holiday shopping season, the band has been asked to perform "All I Need is Everything." The show airs 7-9 a.m. Friday (Channels 9,2). The band has canceled this year's Christmas concerts and December tour. Two shows had been planned at OTR's traditional venue, the Emery Theater. However, Ms. Bergquist says she and her husband/co-bandleader Linford Detweiler will be busy recording demos for Capitol Records. "I feel really bad about that," she says of the local cancellation. "Hopefully, we'll make up for it next year." Former Over the Rhine guitarist Ric Hordinski wil take up some of that holiday concert slack with a Dec. 19th show at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival theater, 719 Race, downtown. He'll do two sets with his band Monk, the first acoustic, the second electric. He also plans to have some musical guests during the evening. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10, available by e-mail at monktix@aol.com and at the door. Information: 941-5354.
