wow. last night has to rank up there as one of the best nights of my life. five of my friends and i made the journey to nashville last night for the show, and it was amazing!!! so here's the set list: *latter days -- i love this song, but i think there was a little too much background vocals at times. *faithfully dangerous -- i love the new beginning--much slower. very cool. (but you know what? i forgot that jack was even there.) *the seahorse -- i don't mean to pick on poor mr. henderson, but i wish i could have forgotten he was there during this song! he *almost* had it together on guitar, but, i don't know, it just wasn't quite there. the ending was horrible, though, i thought. i know some have posted dislike of the 30 minute long "don't you want to see what you're missing" part at the end. you guys would have loved this ending. they just stopped. just stopped playing. *little blue river -- i like the version better where karin would sing "roll me over the little blue river now church child" and ric and brian would sing "roll me over" better than the new version, but it was a nice addition to the set list. *all i need is everything -- jack began to get better. cool guitar solo. *etcetera whatever -- etc. whatever ***************EVERYMAN'S DAUGHTER******************** yes, you read correctly. if you have been on this list for any long amount of time, you know how i love this song. yes, kids, they played it live last night. WOW! WOW! WOW! *june -- one of the highlights of the evening. mike had an awesome bass solo, and jack came out of his shell a little bit. his ending was odd, but i liked it. that was the best i have ever heard that done live. *miles -- another nice addition to the setlist *mary's waltz (larin and linford only) -- nice. set a beautiful mood *silent night-the duet (obviously the rest of the band came back out) -- beautiful as always. got many a smile out of the crowd. *thank you my angel -- nice harmonies. my friend jonathan told me to post his comment about that song. he had previously made fun of jack for changing his name all the time and so each time he refers to jack he calls him something different. last night during this song he said, "you know ol' jimmy playing guitar up there is way too happy with the tremolo bar." i agreed. *jack's valentine -- next to hearing everyman's daughter, this was the best part of the evening. wow! i like this song more and more each time i hear it live. *goodbye -- upbeat, that's nice. _______________________________ encore 1 *it came upon a midnight clear -- traditionally entertaining *poughkeepsie -- this was great. karin seemed more "into" the song than i have seen her in a while. *bothered -- beautiful. beautiful. ________________________________ encore 2 *lucy -- a great way to end the evening. i didn't get a copy of the actual setlist (a mob of otr-hungry kids rushed the stage!), and i don't know what was actually "planned" but the ending of lucy was kind of abrupt--like it is on the cd, "it's not as bad as you think" and then it kind of stops. so that's how the show ended (well, and then there was a lot of applause for a while, but musically it ended abruptly with "lucy" so, all in all, i thought the show was *GREAT* jason dennie was fabulous, and we got a more extended set than i expected. i talked to linford for a while, and he said he thought the tour was going really well. he was tired, but you know linford. oh, and i do like karin's haircut. my friend shannon commented the minute that she came on stage "she shouldn't have cut it" but then recanted the minute karin began to sing!
