- ----------ENCORE I---------------

14. jacks valentine (or should i say,'snoops valentine')- the band came back
to the stage and karen announced they needed a volunteer from the
audience for the next song on account linford had no mic, you guessed it,
snoop got the job (lucky son of a...excuse me, sorry.) this totally was
snoops crowning moment. he can actually die now because nothing in life
will compare to this moment;) the song started off and snoop jumped right
in. it sounded really good (don't hold your breathe though for a credit
on the next CD snoop), really, no joke. i am kicking myself for not
trying to video tape the evenings show. the whole band was really
enjoying the addition of the honorary member. i never saw linford laugh
and smile so big as did the rest of the band. at one point in the tune,
right before the line,'i want to trip myself and fall upon you fabulous
sword', the band stops suddenly and the ladies (karin and terri) hold this
note together and then the main vocal (snoop) come right back in, he
didn't come right back in. instead he left the ladies hanging there holding
this note for like, ever...and then said,'you go girls' and then came
back in with the rest of the line to let them off the hook. truly a
moment and song that we all won't forget.

CONCERT REVIEW

MAY 15, 1998 - JAMMIN' JAVA, FRANKLIN, TN
From: Kendrickjd (Kendrickjd@aol.com)
Lineup: Karin, Linford, Brian, Terri, Mike

*faithfully dangerous--
*bothered-- beautiful, as always... karin apologized for the band being
"stripped down and shrunken" that evening.
*the seahorse--karin forgot the intro, but other than that...
*little blue river--karin played this on her acoustic guitar.
*all i need is everything--
*etcetera whatever--
*EVERYMAN'S DAUGHTER
*orphan girl--karin commented that linford makes the setlists and she thought
it was funny to see this song follow everyman's daughter. there
were only 3 of us in the audience who agreed.
*poughkeepsie--
*moth (accoustic)--we both really liked this song. i only caught a few lines
of the song. most of it after "same ol' question" faded
                   into the typical karin-slur.
(*paul and virginia--on the setlist, but not played)
*lucy-- an interesting drum beat at the beginning by brian.
the band had a lot of fun playing this song.
*jack's valentine--always a favorite, but linford sounded like he was asleep
while singing. too bad dug wasn't there!
(*latter days--believe it or not, this was listed but not played. i didn't
know what to do not hearing that song.)
(*cast me away--they left this out, too.)
*and can it be--

after this, Karin said they're going to play some new stuff. I heard a Yummy
Chick voice from the back shout out "Lay it on us *thick*. Thick and yummy!"
(i'm not making this up. why do you think i named 'em the yummy chicks?) Karin
smiled.

I Will Remember
Karen pulled on the Rick for...
Moth --sample lyric "in search of a flame"

and then spoke briefly about the excitement of the news of the tour with Cowboy
Junkies, and invited us to come see them when they swing into CLEOH with CJ, and
"say hi" Someone yelled out "hi!" Karin smiled again, turned away, turned
back, and joked, "Not now...then!"
